Blue Lotus

Blue lotus or Nymphaea caerulea, another name for Nymphaea nouchali var. caerulea, hails from the banks of the Nile River and has many similarities to nelumbo nucifera. Because of these similarities, the two are frequently mistaken. However, Nymphaea caerulea, often called blue lotus, is a water lily and not a lotus. Both plants being referred to as “sacred” and having similar properties, coupled with the fact that nelumbo nucifera does have a blue variety, adds to the confusion about these plants. But, here’s the good news. If you’re looking for Nymphaea caerulea, aka Blue Lotus, then you are in the right place!
